Mike Wilson is the deputy editor of The New York Times feature The Great Read, which highlights the best narrative journalism in The Times each day.
Mike started his journalism career at the Miami Herald, ending with a stint as a writer on the Sunday magazine, Tropic. He then worked for 18 years at the Tampa Bay Times, where he was a writer, features editor and managing editor. In 2013 he moved to New York to become managing editor of Nate Silver’s data journalism website, FiveThirtyEight. In February 2015 he became editor in chief of The Dallas Morning News, working there six years before joining The Times.
His first book, Right on the Edge of Crazy (1993), told the story of American ski racers competing in the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, France. His second, The Difference Between God and Larry Ellison (1997), chronicled the career of Oracle Corporation’s billionaire founder.
